Jackal Industries is a dynamic organisation which acts as a service company for all related businesses within the Group. We are currently seeking a highly skilled, experienced Bookkeeper who will also act as a trusted Personal Assistant (PA) to our Chairman.
Role Overview
This is a dual-focus role requiring a sharp financial mind and exceptional organisational skills. You will manage the day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting functions for our owner-managed business, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance. Simultaneously, you will provide high-level administrative and secretarial support to the Chairman, managing schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Financial & Bookkeeping (Approx. 70%)
- Manage all day-to-day bookkeeping functions, including accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasts, and financial reports for management review.
- Oversee VAT returns, payroll processes, and year-end audit preparations.
- Maintain strict financial controls tailored to an owner-managed business environment.
Executive PA Support (Approx. 30%)
- Act as the primary point of contact and gatekeeper for the Chairman.
- Manage the Chairman’s diary, schedule meetings, and coordinate international travel arrangements.
- Handle confidential correspondence and documentation in both English and German.
- Assist with ad-hoc projects, business administrative tasks, and personal administration as required.
What We Are Looking For
Qualifications & Experience:
- Professional Background: Experience working as an Accountant, preferably within owner-managed businesses. You must be AAT Qualified, Part-Qualified ACCA, or Qualified by Experience (QBE).
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience managing full-charge bookkeeping and accounting activities, specifically within an owner-managed business environment.
- Language Skills: Full professional proficiency in both English and German (written and spoken) preferred.
Key Skills & Attributes:
- Proven track record of supporting senior executives or business owners in a PA/EA capacity.
- Deep understanding of the nuances, agility, and discretion required in an owner-managed business.
- Strong proficiency in modern accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks) and MS Office Suite.
- High level of discretion, trustworthiness.
- Excellent time-management skills with the ability to prioritise multitasking between financial deadlines and PA duties.
