How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Career development: Ideal practical experience for anyone pursuing careers in teaching, child psychology, or social work.

Competitive pay: Daily rates reflecting your experience, paid weekly.

Dedicated support: Your own specialist secondary consultant at Academics to match you with the right school culture.

    What You'll Do
Provide 1:1 and small group support: Work closely with students who need extra help, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Deliver targeted interventions: Help students understand tasks, breaking down learning materials so they are accessible and engaging.

Manage classroom behavior: Use a calm demeanor and de-escalation techniques to keep vulnerable or frustrated students focused and feeling safe.

Implement EHC Plans: Assist in delivering tailored support outlined in students' Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Promote inclusion: Encourage independence while ensuring students feel fully included in the wider classroom environment.

Have experience working with teenagers or vulnerable individuals (e.g., care work, youth mentoring, sports coaching, or volunteering).

Are highly adaptable and able to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers.

Hold an Enhanced DBS on the update service (or are willing to obtain one).
