How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Role

    As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, improving, and supporting the reliability of plant equipment within a chemical manufacturing environment.

    This role requires a strong understanding of chemical processes and process plant operations, alongside hands-on maintenance experience across a range of mechanical and electrical assets. You will be working closely with critical process equipment including pumps, valves, hydraulic systems, motors, and associated plant machinery.

    In addition to day-to-day maintenance activities, you will play a key role in analysing maintenance performance data, identifying trends, supporting compliance requirements, and helping drive the maintenance department forward through a proactive, structured, and data-led approach.

    Key Responsibilities

    Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown support across site plant and equipment

    Maintain and repair a range of mechanical and electrical assets including pumps, valves, hydraulic systems, motors, rotating equipment, and process plant machinery

    Analyse maintenance data and equipment performance trends to identify recurring issues and opportunities for improvement

    Support the development and implementation of maintenance strategies to improve reliability and reduce downtime

    Participate in root cause analysis investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent repeat failures

    Ensure compliance with engineering standards, statutory requirements, and site health & safety procedures

    Support maintenance planning activities and continuous improvement initiatives across the site

    Work closely with operations and engineering teams to maximise plant availability and efficiency

    Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and KPI data

    Promote and maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping, and engineering best practice throughout the site

    Skills & Experience

    The successful candidate will ideally possess:

    Minimum 5 years’ engineering experience within a chemical, process manufacturing, or heavy industrial environment

    Strong understanding of chemical manufacturing processes and process plant operations

    Hands-on multi-skilled maintenance experience across mechanical and electrical systems

    Strong experience working with pumps, valves, hydraulic systems, motors, rotating equipment, and process plant machinery

    Experience interpreting maintenance data, trends, and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement

    Knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance methodologies

    Experience using CMMS systems and maintaining accurate maintenance documentation

    Strong understanding of engineering compliance, statutory inspections, and health & safety legislation

    Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills

    Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment

    HNC qualification or above in an Engineering discipline

    Essential Industry Background

    Previous experience within a chemical manufacturing or chemical processing environment is essential.

    Candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of process plant equipment, chemical production environments, and the maintenance requirements associated with operating within a highly regulated industry.

    Desirable Experience

    * Reliability-centred maintenance (RCM)

    * Root Cause Analysis (RCA)

    * Asset performance and reliability improvement projects

    * Maintenance KPI development and reporting

    * Continuous improvement initiatives

    * Experience working within COMAH, ATEX, DSEAR, or similarly regulated environments
