How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    BMS Software & Commissioning Engineer

ECS Power & Control Ltd — Norwich, Norfolk (office & UK site travel)

    Salary: £34,000 – £56,000 depending on experience | Type: Permanent, full-time | Hours: 40 / week

    About ECS Power & Control

ECS Power & Control Ltd is an established East Anglian engineering business based in Horsford, Norwich. We design, manufacture and commission control panels and Building Management Systems for HVAC, power distribution and process control applications.

Our in-house capability spans panel build, software design, electrical installation and on-site commissioning, which means our team see projects through from concept to handover. We work across defence, healthcare, education, commercial, and industrial sectors..

    The Role

We are looking for a BMS Software & Commissioning Engineer to join our team. You will configure, program, commission and fault-find BMS installations on client sites, working closely with our project managers, panel builders and electrical installation teams.

This is a mixed office-and-site role. You will spend time in our Norwich office writing software, preparing graphics and producing handover documentation, and time on UK sites carrying out point-to-point, witnessing and end-to-end commissioning.

The base salary is in the range of £34,000 to £56,000, set against experience and platform breadth. We are open to candidates from developing engineers moving up into full project ownership, through to experienced engineers ready to take the lead on commissioning a major project. The role and package will be shaped around the right person.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Configure, program and commission BMS head-ends, controllers and field devices to project specification.

    * Carry out point-to-point testing, loop checks and functional witnessing on site.

    * Develop and tune control strategies for HVAC plant; ASHP’s, AHUs, chillers, boilers, FCUs, VAVs, pumps and heat networks.

    * Produce user graphics, schematics and operator pages so end-users can run their buildings effectively.

    * Diagnose and resolve hardware, software and network/communications issues on live systems.

    * Liaise with M&E contractors, consultants and end-users in a professional, solution-focused manner.

    * Produce and maintain commissioning records, O&M manuals and as-built documentation.

    * Provide service and remote support to existing customers as part of the wider team.

    What We Are Looking For

    Essential

    * A background in electrical, electronic, controls or building services engineering (academic, apprenticeship or equivalent on-the-job experience all welcome).

    * Hands-on experience configuring, commissioning or supporting at least one major BMS platform.

    * A solid working understanding of HVAC plant and typical control strategies.

    * Comfortable reading electrical schematics, specifications and BMS points schedules.

    * Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to UK sites, with occasional overnight stays.

    * Good written English for documentation and customer-facing reporting.

    * CSCS card, IPAF, PASMA or equivalent site qualifications.

    Ideal (any combination)

    * Working knowledge of Trend (IQ/IQVision/963), Siemens (Desigo) and/or Schneider Electric (Continuum/EcoStruxure). Experience across more than one is a strong advantage our ideal hire is multi-platform.

    * Tridium Niagara N4 (TCP, AX or N4) certification or working experience.

    * Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, LON, MQTT and integration with third-party plant.

    * IP networking fundamentals; VLANs, subnets, firewall rules to a level useful on site.

    * Awareness of building energy optimisation, metering and reporting.

    What We Offer

    * Salary £34,000 – £56,000 depending on experience and platform breadth.

    * Company vehicle and fuel card, with most weeks home each night our site footprint is predominantly East Anglian, not nationwide.

    * 22 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays.

    * Workplace pension.

    * Funded training and certification for Trend IQ, Siemens Desigo, Schneider Ecostruxture, Distech, IP networking and site safety. We invest in engineers as they grow, not just hire in already qualified.

    * A stable, owner-managed business with a forward order book and clear succession of projects across defence, healthcare, education, commercial, and industrial sectors.

    * Norwich-based office and workshop, supportive team and direct access to the senior leadership team.

ECS Power & Control is an equal opportunities employer. We are committed to building a team that reflects the communities we serve, and welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK
