How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Laboratory Technician

    Oldbury

We are recruiting for a Laboratory Technician to join a well-established and growing organisation based in Oldbury. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with laboratory experience or a recent science graduate looking to begin their career within the industry.

Whether you're an experienced laboratory professional, a recent graduate, or someone looking to take their first step into the industry with a relevant qualification, training and support will be provided for the right candidate.

    Key Responsibilities

Accurately weigh, measure, and mix chemicals in line with established procedures.
Prepare samples and formulations for testing and production purposes.
Follow laboratory methods and quality procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy.
Maintain detailed laboratory records and documentation.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Carry out routine cleaning and maintenance of laboratory equipment and work areas.
Assist with product development, testing, and formulation activities where required.
Monitor and manage laboratory stock levels and consumables.
    About You

Previous laboratory experience is advantageous but not essential.
A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to learn.
A qualification or degree in Chemistry, Chemical Science, Laboratory Science, Pharmaceutical Science, or a related scientific discipline.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good understanding of laboratory health and safety practices.
Ability to follow technical instructions and established procedures.
    Good communication and organisational skills.
Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
    Ideal For

Recent graduates looking to start a career within the chemical or laboratory sector.
Candidates with a relevant scientific qualification seeking their first industry-based role.
Laboratory Assistants or Technicians looking to develop their skills in a more hands-on formulation environment.
Individuals with a genuine interest in chemistry and chemical processes who are eager to learn and progress.
    What's on Offer

A hands-on laboratory role with genuine involvement in chemical preparation and mixing.
    Full training and development opportunities.
Career progression within a growing business.
    Supportive and collaborative working environment.
    Competitive salary and benefits package.
This role is particularly suited to candidates who want to gain real, practical laboratory experience and be directly involved in the preparation and formulation of chemical products, rather than operating highly automated laboratory systems
