How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Do you enjoy turning complex engineering challenges into elegant automation solutions?

    Are you looking for a role where your expertise in electrical design and controls can directly influence innovative manufacturing projects?

    If so, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

    Join a Business Driving the Next Generation of Smart Manufacturing

    Our client is a highly innovative technology organisation operating at the forefront of industrial automation, machine vision, inspection systems, measurement technology, and digital manufacturing solutions. Working with leading manufacturers across a range of advanced industries, they help businesses improve quality, efficiency, productivity, and automation through sophisticated engineering solutions.

    As they continue to grow, they are looking for an Electrical Design & Controls Engineer to join their experienced engineering team and play a key role in delivering bespoke automation and control systems for customers across the UK and internationally.

    Why This Role Is Great

    This is a varied and hands-on engineering position where you'll have the opportunity to:

    * Design electrical control systems for advanced automation and manufacturing equipment.

    * Create detailed electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring plans, and technical documentation using industry-standard CAD software.

    * Develop control architectures and contribute to automation strategies for innovative projects.

    * Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver projects from concept through to installation.

    * Work with PLCs, industrial communications networks, and automation technologies.

    * Support machine builds, electrical testing, and commissioning activities.

    * Travel occasionally to customer sites within the UK and overseas to help integrate and support new systems.

    * Build expertise across a diverse range of automation technologies and manufacturing environments.

    * Contribute to projects that help shape the future of modern manufacturing.

    About You

    You may already be an experienced Electrical Design Engineer, Controls Engineer, Automation Engineer, or Electrical Systems Engineer looking for your next challenge.

    Our client would be particularly interested in hearing from people who have experience with:

    * Electrical design within industrial or manufacturing environments.

    * AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical CAD platforms.

    * Electrical panel design and control system development.

    * Industrial automation technologies and control systems.

    * Machinery safety principles and standards.

    * Industrial communication protocols such as Profinet, Profibus, EtherNet/IP, TCP/IP, OPC, IO-Link, or similar.

    * PLC programming and controls engineering.

    * Fault finding, troubleshooting, and problem-solving in technical environments.

    * Working collaboratively within project-based engineering teams.

    Experience with robotics, advanced automation systems, or a relevant engineering degree would be advantageous, but not essential. If you have transferable skills and a strong technical foundation, we'd encourage you to apply.

    What You'll Receive

    In return, our client offers an excellent package including:

    * Competitive salary

    * Company pension scheme

    * 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays

    * Private medical cover including optical and dental benefits

    * Life assurance

    * Cycle to Work scheme

    * Free on-site parking

    * Opportunities for professional development and career progression

    * Exposure to exciting technologies and innovative engineering projects

    The Opportunity

    This is more than just an engineering role. It's an opportunity to join a business where innovation is embedded into everything they do, where your ideas will be valued, and where you'll contribute to technologies that are transforming manufacturing worldwide.

    If you're passionate about automation, electrical design, and solving real-world engineering challenges, we'd love to hear from you.

    Apply today to take the next step in your engineering career.
