How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Automation Engineer (Barriers & Doors)

    Location: North West (Manchester / Liverpool Region) – Field Based

    Salary: £38,000 per annum

    Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:00

    Contract Type: Permanent

    About the Role

    A growing and well-established engineering organisation is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer (Barriers & Doors) to support a range of commercial and residential sector clients across the North West. This field-based position offers a varied workload, including reactive maintenance, planned preventative servicing, fault diagnosis, and installation of automated access systems.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer who enjoys problem-solving, working independently, and delivering high-quality service to customers.

    Automation Engineer (Barriers & Doors) Key Responsibilities

    * Attend emergency breakdowns and reactive maintenance call-outs.

    * Diagnose and repair faults on automated doors, gates, and barrier systems.

    * Carry out routine servicing and planned preventative maintenance.

    * Install and commission automated access equipment.

    * Conduct site inspections, surveys, and system assessments.

    * Complete accurate service reports and job documentation.

    * Ensure all work is carried out in line with health and safety regulations.

    * Maintain timesheets and work records to company standards.

    * Participate in an on-call rota and undertake overtime when required.

    Automation Engineer (Barriers & Doors) Skills & Experience Required

    * ADSA or ADIA accreditation.

    * Minimum of 3 years' experience working with automatic doors, gates, barriers, or similar automation systems.

    * Full UK Manual Driving Licence.

    * Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

    * Excellent communication and customer service abilities.

    * High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

    * Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently.

    * Flexible approach to working hours and customer requirements.
