How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Location; St Helens
Are you an Electrical Maintenance Engineer looking to get your evenings and weekends back?
This is a rare opportunity to join a major manufacturing operation in a Monday to Friday days-based role, offering the chance to work on complex industrial equipment while maintaining an excellent work-life balance.
We are working with a large-scale manufacturing business operating one of the UK's most established and technically advanced production facilities. The site has a strong engineering culture, significant investment in plant reliability and a highly skilled maintenance team made up of around 50 engineers.
Unlike many engineering roles that involve rotating shifts, nights and weekends, this position offers a permanent weekday days pattern, making it ideal for engineers looking for greater stability without sacrificing technical challenge or career development.
The engineering structure is highly organised, with dedicated electrical and mechanical teams allowing engineers to develop specialist expertise within their chosen discipline. You'll be working alongside experienced colleagues on a wide range of automated production equipment, process systems and plant infrastructure, with plenty of opportunities to develop your technical knowledge and progress your career.
This role would suit a time-served Electrical Maintenance Engineer who enjoys fault finding, problem solving and continuous improvement within a large industrial environment.
Responsibilities of an Electrical Maintenance Engineer:
    *
Carry out planned preventative maintenance across automated production and process equipment
    *
Respond to electrical breakdowns and faults to minimise downtime
    *
Diagnose and repair faults across automation systems, conveyors and production machinery
    *
Support plant modifications, upgrades and improvement projects
    *
Work with process control systems, temperature control equipment and automated handling systems
    *
Carry out root cause analysis to improve equipment reliability
    *
Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with site standards
    *
Work closely with engineering and production teams to maximise plant performance
Skills & Qualifications of an Electrical Maintenance Engineer:
    *
    Time-served Electrical Apprentice
    *
NVQ Level 3 Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification
    *
    HNC Electrical Engineering desirable
    *
Strong electrical fault-finding experience within manufacturing or industrial environments
    *
Experience working with PLCs, SCADA and HMI systems
    *
Experience within heavy industry, manufacturing or automated production environments advantageous
    *
    Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
    *
Ability to work effectively within a structured engineering team
Benefits of an Electrical Maintenance Engineer:
    *
    Monday to Friday days role
    *
    Working hours: 07:45 – 16:00
    *
    Salary: £48,000
    *
25 days holiday plus bank holidays
    *
Holiday entitlement increases with service up to 27 days
    *
Up to 8% employer pension contribution
    *
    Annual bonus scheme (performance related)
    *
    Free onsite parking
    *
Work-life balance with no rotating shifts or night work
    *
Large engineering team with strong technical support
    *
    Long-term career progression opportunities
    *
Stable manufacturing environment with continued investment in engineering and plant reliability
