How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Pastoral Support Assistant - Secondary School - Hayes - September 2026 Start - Full-Time

Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning?

Do you have the resilience, empathy, and communication skills needed to make a positive impact on students' wellbeing, behaviour, and personal development?

Tradewind Recruitment is partnering with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Hayes seeking to appoint a dedicated Pastoral Support Assistant from September 2026. This full-time role is ideal for graduates, youth workers, mentors, or individuals considering a future career in education, counselling, psychology, social work, or pastoral care.

This is a rewarding opportunity to become a valued member of a supportive pastoral team, helping students thrive both academically and personally while taking responsibility for a form group within a designated year group.

    The Role

As a Pastoral Support Assistant, you will work closely with students, pastoral leaders, teachers, and families to ensure that every student receives the support they need to succeed. You will also act as a Form Tutor for a designated year group, playing a key role in students' daily school experience and personal development.

    Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Acting as a Form Tutor for a designated year group, delivering daily registration and pastoral sessions
Building positive relationships with students and acting as a trusted adult within the school
Monitoring attendance, punctuality, behaviour, and wellbeing within your form group
Providing pastoral and emotional support to students across KS3 and KS4
Working one-to-one and in small groups with students who require additional support
Assisting with behaviour management and restorative conversations
Supporting students who may be experiencing social, emotional, or mental health challenges
Liaising with teachers, pastoral leaders, parents, and external agencies where appropriate
Monitoring student progress and contributing to support plans and interventions
Promoting positive behaviour, resilience, and student wellbeing across the school
Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Supporting the organisation of assemblies, enrichment activities, and year group events

Who the School is Looking For

The school is keen to hear from enthusiastic and compassionate individuals who are committed to supporting young people.

    You should have:

A degree or relevant experience working with young people
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organisational skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
A positive, resilient, and proactive approach
The ability to build rapport quickly and effectively with students
A genuine passion for supporting young people's wellbeing and development
Confidence leading a form group and acting as a positive role model
Previous experience in education, youth work, mentoring, coaching, social care, or similar settings is desirable but not essential

    Why Apply?

Join a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Hayes
Take ownership of a form group and play a key role in students' personal development
Make a genuine difference to students' wellbeing, confidence, and success
Gain valuable experience for careers in education, psychology, counselling, social work, or pastoral care
Work alongside experienced pastoral leaders and school staff
    Full-time, term-time only role with a September 2026 start
Opportunity for long-term progression and professional development
Be part of a school community that values student wellbeing and personal growth
