How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Precision Assembly Technician Ampthill, Bedfordshire 7-Month Contract | 37.5 Hours | 4-Day Working Week (Monday–Thursday) SC Clearance Required
    Are you an experienced Assembly Technician with a background in high-precision engineering environments? Our client, a leading global defence and technology organisation, is seeking an Assembly Technician to join a specialist team supporting advanced engineering programmes from their Ampthill facility. This is an excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge defence technology, building and integrating complex assemblies that support some of the UK's most innovative programmes.
    Working within a highly skilled, close-knit team, you will be responsible for transforming engineering concepts into precision-built, production-ready hardware.
    The Role
    Working from engineering drawings, specifications, and evolving work instructions, you will assemble, integrate, and test complex mechanical systems and sub-assemblies to exacting standards. This position sits within a specialist engineering environment where quality, precision, and attention to detail are critical to success.
    Key Responsibilities
    * Build and integrate complex mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies.
    * Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and assembly instructions.
    * Carry out precision fitting, assembly, and basic functional testing activities.
    * Use precision measurement equipment to verify dimensions and tolerance compliance.
    * Work with a variety of materials, including metals, composites, bonded assemblies, and specialist fastening systems.
    * Identify build issues and work collaboratively with engineering teams to implement solutions.
    * Maintain accurate assembly documentation and build records to support quality and traceability requirements.
    * Support Lean manufacturing, 6S activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    * Contribute to prototype and development builds within a fast-paced engineering environment.
    About You
    To be successful in this role, you will have experience working within a high-precision assembly or manufacturing environment and be comfortable working independently while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
    Essential Experience
    * Minimum 2 years' experience within a precision assembly, manufacturing, or integration environment.
    * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
    * Experience using precision measurement equipment such as callipers, micrometres, gauges, and inspection tools.
    * Competent in using manual assembly equipment and light power tools.
    * Understanding of Lean principles, root-cause analysis, and corrective action processes.
    * Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
    * Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
    Desirable Experience
    Applications are particularly welcomed from candidates with experience in:
    * Defence engineering programmes.
    * Aerospace manufacturing and assembly.
    * Satellite and space technology organisations.
    * Advanced technology and R&D environments.
    * Military vehicle programmes such as AJAX or similar defence platforms.
    * High-compliance industries where quality, traceability, and configuration control are essential.
    Why Apply?
    * 4-day working week (Monday–Thursday).
    * Opportunity to work on advanced defence and technology programmes.
    * Small, highly skilled engineering team environment.
    * Exposure to prototype and development projects.
    * Fast interview process with a single-stage, face-to-face interview.
    * Contract opportunity with a globally recognised engineering organisation.
    If you're a hands-on Assembly Technician who enjoys precision engineering, problem-solving, and working on technically challenging products, we'd love to hear from you
