How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are seeking an experienced Senior Planner to support the delivery of a major electrical substation project, covering works from plinth upwards through to energisation and commissioning.

    This is a key role within the project controls function, responsible for developing, managing, and communicating a fully integrated programme across design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases, working closely with both electrical and civil delivery teams.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Develop, implement, and maintain the integrated project programme from design through to commissioning

    Establish the baseline programme, ensuring alignment across all disciplines including civils and electrical works

    Interface closely with the Civil Planner to ensure programme integration and sequencing of works

    Monitor progress against the baseline, identify variances, and implement corrective actions

    Manage change control processes, including impact assessment and programme re-baselining where required

    Undertake critical path analysis, scenario planning, and lookahead scheduling

    Identify and assess risks and opportunities within the programme, driving mitigation strategies

    Produce clear, concise programme reports and present updates to stakeholders

    Translate complex programme data into simple, understandable outputs for project teams and senior management

    Requirements:

    Proven experience as a Senior Planner on electrical substation or similar power/energy infrastructure projects in the UK for a tier one delivery contractor

    Strong understanding of EPC project delivery including design, procurement, installation, and commissioning phases

    Demonstrable experience in programme creation, baseline management, and change control

    Ability to integrate multi-discipline programmes (electrical and civils)

    Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risks and propose solutions

    Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly summarise and convey programme status

    Proficient in planning software such as Primavera P6 (or equivalent)

    Qualifications:

    Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering preferred; Mechanical Engineering or similar technical discipline also considered
