How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Our client is a highly regarded structural steel contractor and fabricator with an excellent reputation for delivering innovative steelwork solutions across a diverse range of projects. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Structural Engineer to join their established engineering team.
    The Opportunity

You'll be involved in a variety of projects, working closely with colleagues across design, fabrication and site teams to deliver efficient and cost-effective engineering solutions.

    Key Responsibilities
    * Design steel connections and structural components
    * Undertake frame analysis of steel structures in temporary conditions
    * Value engineer existing designs to improve efficiency and buildability
    * Develop practical solutions tailored to individual project requirements
    * Support and review the work of Graduate Engineers and junior team members
    * Liaise with fabrication, drawing office and erection teams
    * Work collaboratively with architects, consulting engineers and external stakeholders
    * Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and project specifications
    About You
    We're keen to hear from Structural Engineers who have experience within the structural steel sector and are looking to take the next step in their career.
    Essential Requirements
    * Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
    * Minimum 3 years' experience designing steel structures and steel connections
    * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    * Excellent attention to detail
    * Good written and verbal communication skills
    * Strong IT and computer skills
    * Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
    Desirable
    * Chartered status, or working towards Chartership, with IStructE or ICE
    * CAD experience
    * Tekla experience would be advantageous
