How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Overview

We are recruiting an experienced Site Engineer to support large-scale earthworks and civils activities on the HS2 project near Brackley. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong technical and site operational skills, looking to contribute to the development of one of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure schemes.

    Key Responsibilities

Complete accurate setting-out and surveying for large earthworks operations including cut/fill, embankments, soil stabilisation, haul roads, and drainage.

Provide engineering control to ensure all works adhere to design levels, environmental constraints, and HS2 tolerances.

Support quality assurance activities by recording as-built data, conducting inspections, and completing ITP documentation.

Monitor earthworks volumes, productivity, and progress, feeding into programme forecasting and reporting.

Communicate effectively with construction teams, subcontractors, plant operators, and client representatives.

Participate in risk assessments, method statements, and daily task briefings.

Maintain compliance with HS2 health, safety, and environmental standards including spoil classification and material tracking.

Assist with temporary works coordination, survey validations, and resolving technical queries on site.

Promote a positive safety culture and ensure adherence to CDM regulations and project policies.

    Skills & Experience

Strong background in earthworks delivery on major civils or highways projects.

Competent in surveying equipment (GPS, Total Station, laser levels) and site monitoring tools.

Good understanding of material classification, compaction requirements, and environmental controls.

Ability to manage records digitally and interpret technical drawings.

Previous experience working on HS2 or with high-profile civil engineering schemes is desirable.

    Qualifications

Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent.

CSCS card essential; SMSTS/SSSTS and lifting/temporary works awareness beneficial.

    Full UK driving licence.

    What We Offer

Opportunity to work on long-term HS2 infrastructure packages.

Clear pathway for progression and professional development.

    A collaborative, safety-first working environment
