How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Role
As Operations Manager, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of terminal activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations across cargo handling, fleet, and yard management. You will lead from the front, managing teams, coordinating resources, and working closely with internal and external stakeholders to optimise performance.

    Key Responsibilities

Manage H&H lifting activities, terminal equipment, and fleet to ensure safe and efficient operations

Plan and allocate labour and contractor resources in line with operational demand

Promote and embed a strong safety-first culture in collaboration with HSEQ teams

Coordinate with stakeholders to maximise yard and warehouse capacity utilisation

Develop, coach, and support team members to enhance capability and performance

Drive continuous improvement initiatives and manage employee relations where required
    About You

Proven experience in a leadership role within terminal operations, logistics, or a similar environment

Strong people management and communication skills, with the ability to lead large teams

Commercially aware, with experience managing budgets and analysing operational performance data

Solid understanding of cargo handling, yard operations, and equipment management

    Stevedore experience would be advantageous

IT proficient, including Microsoft Office; experience with terminal systems is beneficial

    Full UK driving licence

Knowledge of ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001) desirable

Able to perform under pressure, adapt to changing priorities, and lead with integrity
This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation where you can make a tangible impact on operational performance and team development within a critical logistics hub.
