Tax Consultant

Our Oil & Gas Operator client is currently recruiting for the position of Tax Consultant, based in Aberdeen.
 
This is an initial 6-month contract based in central Aberdeen, and would require a presence in Aberdeen at least 3 days per week.
 
PAYE Day Rate negotiable.
 
Responsibilities:

Review and preparation of tax calculations for inclusion in monthly group reporting, including year to date current and deferred taxes, preparation of journals and collation of data for monthly tax reporting pack for shareholders.
Review and preparation of tax calculations and disclosure notes for inclusion in annual statutory accounts, including preparation of journals as required and responding to questions from auditors.
Review of reconciliation of tax accounts.
Review and preparation of Corporation Tax returns for submission to HMRC.
Provide support with respect to responding to HMRC enquiries.
Support design and implementation of internal controls for Finance and Tax and retention of appropriate documentation and records.
Support transfer pricing reviews and preparation and retention of appropriate supporting documentation.
Support the Head of Tax and Tax Manager with tax governance including updates to and maintenance of the Tax Risk Register and SAO process.
Support the Head of Tax and Tax Manager with tax advisory and ad hoc projects as required. 
Experience & Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of accounting and prior experience in preparation of tax calculations for monthly group reporting and calculations and disclosures for statutory accounting.
Prior experience in tax compliance matters relating to the oil and gas industry, particularly with respect to RFCT/SCT/EPL.
Experience using SAP preferable.
Demonstrates an appetite for continuous learning in tax technical areas to adapt to evolving tax landscapes.
Relevant professional qualification in tax or accounting.
Demonstrable experience across a broad range of tax and accounting areas.
