How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Teacher of Performing Arts

    Location: South Essex

    Start Date: September 2026

    Salary: £35,317 - £54,063 (2-days Pro-Rata)

    Contract - Part-Time. Permanent. 

    Are you a passionate Teacher of Performing Arts who can inspire students through Music and Drama?

    Do you hold QTS or are you an ECT looking to develop your career within a thriving secondary school?

    Can you nurture students' skills in composition, performance and music literacy whilst delivering engaging lessons across KS3, KS4 and KS5?

    Teacher Active is proud to be working with a mainstream secondary school in South Essex that is seeking to appoint a Teacher of Performing Arts. The school offers a vibrant and inclusive learning environment where students are encouraged to develop their talents both inside and outside the classroom, with opportunities including a school band, choir, brass band, music summer school and regular participation in community and local events.

    The school is looking to appoint a part-time Teacher of Performing Arts on a permanent basis from September 2026. The successful Teacher of Performing Arts will teach across KS3, KS4 and KS5, with the KS3 Performing Arts curriculum comprising 80% Music and 20% Drama. The successful Teacher of Performing Arts will be able to teach and develop students' skills in composition, performance, keyboard, ukulele, notation and music literacy, whilst demonstrating strong practical musicianship across a range of genres and styles.

    The successful Teacher of Performing Arts will have:

    • QTS or ECT status

    • Experience teaching Performing Arts across KS3, KS4 and KS5

    • Strong practical musicianship across a range of genres and styles

    • The ability to teach composition, performance, keyboard, ukulele, notation and music literacy

    • Excellent classroom management skills

    • A passion for inspiring creativity and student achievement
