How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A well-established fire safety specialist is seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Engineer to join their growing team, covering projects across the North East.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Fire Alarm Engineer who is confident working across a range of commercial, residential and public sector environments, delivering high-quality fire alarm servicing, maintenance, fault finding and small works.

    The Fire Alarm Engineer's Role

    The successful Fire Alarm Engineer will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing fire alarm systems across varied client sites throughout the North East.

    The Fire Alarm Engineer will attend planned and reactive works, identify faults efficiently, complete accurate paperwork, and ensure all works are carried out in line with current British Standards and fire safety regulations.

    The Fire Alarm Engineer will also be expected to communicate professionally with clients on site, provide clear updates, and represent the business to a high standard at all times.

    The Fire Alarm Engineer

    The successful Fire Alarm Engineer will have:

    Proven experience working as a Fire Alarm Engineer
    Strong knowledge of fire alarm servicing, maintenance and fault finding
    Experience working on conventional and addressable fire alarm systems
    A good understanding of BS 5839
    Strong communication and customer-facing skills
    The ability to manage their own workload effectively
    Good IT skills for completing reports and service documentation
    A full UK driving licenceAdditional experience with emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, smoke vents, access control, intruder alarms or other life safety systems would be beneficial, but is not essential.

    Industry-recognised qualifications such as FIA units, ECS, IPAF, or relevant electrical/fire safety training would also be advantageous.
