How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Description

    We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of Boys' Physical Education to join a successful secondary school in Rugby from September 2026.

    The successful candidate will be passionate about promoting physical activity, healthy lifestyles and sporting excellence, delivering engaging PE lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. The ability to teach GCSE Physical Education is desirable, and experience teaching Key Stage 5 would be advantageous.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious teacher, whether experienced or an ECT, to join a supportive department committed to achieving outstanding outcomes for students both in the classroom and through extracurricular sport.

    Key Responsibilities

    Plan and deliver high-quality Boys' PE lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
    Inspire students to develop their physical skills, confidence and enjoyment of sport.
    Prepare students for internal assessments and external examinations where applicable.
    Monitor, assess and track student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback.
    Maintain high standards of behaviour, participation and achievement.
    Contribute to the development of the PE curriculum and departmental resources.
    Organise and support extracurricular sports clubs, fixtures and enrichment activities.
    Promote participation, teamwork, resilience and healthy lifestyles.
    Work collaboratively with colleagues to raise standards and share best practice.
    Attend departmental meetings, parents' evenings and whole-school events.
    Contribute to the wider life of the school community.

    Requirements

    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
    A degree in Physical Education, Sports Science or a related subject.
    Experience teaching PE at secondary level.
    Strong subject knowledge across a range of sporting activities.
    The ability to motivate and engage students of all abilities.
    Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
    Strong organisational and communication skills.
    A commitment to raising achievement and promoting student wellbeing.
    Experience teaching GCSE PE is desirable.
    A willingness to contribute to extracurricular sport is essential.
