How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Controls Engineer / Electrical Engineer

    £40,000 - £60,000 + Industry Training + Progression + Pension + Holiday

    Commutable from Scunthorpe, Gainsborough, Lincoln, Sheffield, and surrounding areas

    Are you from an controls engineering, PLC or similar background looking to join a family run company who will invest in your development, building your technical expertise across industrial control systems, automation, and programming to accelerate your career and establish yourself as a technical specialist in the industry?

    On offer is the chance to join a friendly company in a varied role where you will join a highly specialised industry to become a recognised technical expert with fantastic training to take your skills to the next level and progress your career.

    In this role you will work across office and factory environments, from designing and programming control systems through to commissioning and supporting machinery on-site. The role will involve PLC programming, design, service and fault finding, and working closely with the production and mechanical teams to deliver complete solutions.

    It would suit a Controls Engineer, PLC Programmer, or Electrical Engineer who is eager to deepen their specialism, whether you're early in your career and want structured development, or an experienced technician ready to take on greater ownership and responsibility.

    The Role:
    * Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm (40 hours per week)
    * PLC programming and commissioning
    * Electrical schematic design and panel building support
    * Fault-finding and technical problem solving on industrial machinery
    * Collaborating with mechanical and production teams throughout the project lifecycle

    The Person:
    * Background in controls, electrical, or automation engineering
    * Experience with PLC or industrial control systems
