We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is customer-focussed and understands the important connections between food and the environment, to join the team at RSPB Leighton Moss near Carnforth in north Lancashire.

RSPB Leighton Moss is recruiting for one part-time Centre Assistant to work primarily in the café, you will occasionally be asked to work in the shop. The role is part time working typically 4-12 hours a week. The role will require flexibility to work throughout the week, including regular weekend and bank holiday working.
As Centre Assistant at RSPB Leighton Moss, you will:
* Assist with the day-to-day operation of the busy Leighton Moss café.
* Work as part of a motivated and passionate team of staff and volunteers.
* Deliver the highest standard of customer care.
* Serve customers, handle cash, and use the till system.
* Prepare and serve high-quality food and drink.
* Maintain stock levels.
* Clear tables and wash up.
* Maintain high hygiene standards and follow all food safety and cleaning guidelines.
Essential skills, knowledge, & experience:
* Foundational food-safety awareness - an understanding of safe food handling practices, with training available for those who need it.
* Confidence using digital tools - able to use a computer and learn till or point-of-sale systems with support.
* Clear communication skills - able to share information effectively in writing and in person.
* Organisational and prioritisation skills - able to manage tasks and time in a way that supports the team’s goals.
* Responsiveness to customer needs - able to listen, adapt, and respond constructively to feedback.
* Ability to build positive working relationships - comfortable collaborating with colleagues and contributing to a supportive workplace culture.
* Teamwork and cooperation - willing to work with others, share responsibilities, and support the wider team.
Catering experience is preferred but not essential. Full training and support on all aspects of RSPB catering will be provided to enable you to drive sales, be a positive role model in the team, and be an ambassador for the RSPB. You will also be provided with RSPB uniform.

This is a part-time, permanent position with variable hours. Contracted hours will be a minimum 4 hours per week, typically 4-12 hours across 1-3 shifts per week. The role will require flexibility to work throughout the week, including regular weekend and bank holiday working.
