How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Project Controls Cost & Forecasting Engineer

Sector: Nuclear New Build / Major Infrastructure & Energy

    Location: Bristol, England (On-Site/Office Based)

    Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent

    The Opportunity:

We are partnering with a premier Tier 1 technical services and project controls consultancy to recruit a Project Controls Cost Engineer. Operating within the integrated Cost and Forecasting division for one of Europe's largest energy infrastructure developments, this role is central to driving financial governance, budget control, and forecasting accuracy across major multi-million-pound work packages.

This position is ideal for an analytical, detail-oriented Project Controls professional looking to expand their career on a landmark, multi-billion-pound construction programme. You will collaborate across organisational boundaries to deliver the precise data insights required for senior-level corporate decision-making.

    Key Responsibilities:

Cost Data Management: Produce, update, and maintain comprehensive cost and forecast data frameworks in strict alignment with project Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).

Systems Administration: Manage and maintain financial data integrity within enterprise-level project controls and cost management software applications (such as EcoSys and SAP).

Reporting Cycle Execution: Coordinate and compile regular project cost control reports in accordance with defined monthly reporting cycles, providing clear narrative commentary on cost variances, time-related drivers, and baseline performance.

Trend & Change Control: Assist in the formal project change management process. Analyse trends at the project package level, generate performance indicators, and identify project risks and cost-saving opportunities.

Commercial Insight & Analysis: Utilise a combination of commercial and technical data to deliver clear insights, helping project leaders make robust, risk-mitigated decisions.

Senior Analytical Support: Partner with Senior Cost Engineers to provide detailed analytical interpretation of complex financial, technical, and supply chain performance data to help prioritise corrective actions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Interface proactively with project management, commercial, and engineering teams to embed uniform financial processes and uphold a transparent, collaborative team culture.

    What We're Looking For:

Education: Minimum of an HND or equivalent higher qualification in Project Management, Project Controls, Engineering, Finance, or a related technical discipline.

Project Controls Pedigree: Demonstrable experience working within a dedicated project controls or cost engineering discipline, ideally within a large-scale construction, energy, defense, or heavy industrial infrastructure environment.

Methodological Knowledge: A solid understanding of structured project controls methodologies, earned value management (EVM) principles, and forecasting techniques.

Analytical Skills: Exceptional critical thinking and numerical problem-solving capabilities, with a proven ability to interpret complex, multi-layered data sets.

Rigorous Standards: High attention to detail, ensuring absolute accuracy of financial outputs and the baseline validity of quality data under tight reporting deadlines.

What's on Offer (Package & Benefits):

Salary: Highly competitive base salary matching senior market rates (dependent upon experience).

Healthcare: Comprehensive private medical cover and digital GP service access.

Family Benefits: Enhanced parental leave pay structures alongside access to dedicated family-friendly support programmes.

Professional Development: Financial reimbursement and corporate backing towards relevant professional engineering/project controls memberships and continued professional development (CPD).

Corporate Culture: A highly inclusive, supportive workspace backed by diverse employee networks, mental health initiatives, and paid volunteering days
