How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    AR875 - Installation Engineer

    Location: Poole (Frequent International Travel is Required)

    Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 + Benefits

    Overview:

    First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a practical, solutions-focused engineer to join a specialist technical services team supporting the installation, servicing, and maintenance of commercial laundry and warewash chemical dosing equipment on cruise ships worldwide.

    This is a hands-on, field-based role suited to an engineer who enjoys problem-solving, working in varied environments, and delivering a high standard of customer service in challenging and international settings.

    The successful candidate will spend approximately 75% of their time working onboard cruise ships, with deployments typically lasting 2–4 weeks, followed by time off in lieu.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Install, service, maintain and repair chemical dosing equipment for commercial laundry and warewash systems onboard cruise ships
    Carry out fault finding, diagnostics, safety checks and repairs on installed systems
    Work with electrical and plumbing systems within a marine environment
    Support onboard installation projects alongside project managers, engineers and contractors
    Prepare equipment, consumables and materials required for field deployments
    Complete accurate service reports and technical documentation in a timely manner
    Provide technical support and basic training to customers and end users where required
    Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers through professional service delivery
    Skills and Qualifications:

    City & Guilds 17th Edition Electrical Installation qualification or equivalent electrical background
    Proven experience in a hands-on or field-based engineering role
    Experience working with 3-phase electrical systems
    Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and repair skills
    Confident working independently and as part of a wider technical team
    Good organisational and communication skills with a customer-focused approach
    Willingness to travel extensively and work away from home for extended periods
    Experience in commercial laundry, warewash, dosing systems or plumbing would be advantageous
    Location: Poole (Frequent International Travel is Required)
