How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Tutor Opportunity – IT-Focused Mentoring & Educational Support (Basingstoke)

The CatchUp Academy is currently working in partnership with Hampshire County Council to provide 1:1 support for a 16-year-old student with an EHCP who is preparing to transition into college in September.

This is an exciting opportunity for a tutor, mentor, or IT professional to support a young person who has been out of education for some time and is now looking towards a positive next step in their educational journey.

    Student Profile

The student has a strong interest and aptitude in computing and technology and has already developed impressive practical skills. He runs a small business building and selling custom PCs, as well as repairing, upgrading, and maintaining computers for others. These achievements demonstrate significant maturity, independence, and technical ability.

He is due to start a college IT course in September and would also like to continue working towards Maths and English GCSEs/Functional Skills qualifications.

    Role Overview

The primary focus of this provision is not traditional academic tutoring. Instead, the successful candidate will build a positive working relationship with the student, help re-engage him with learning, and support his preparation for college.

    Areas of support may include:

    *

    Developing confidence and resilience

    *

    Promoting independence and study skills

    *

    *

    Exploring IT-related projects and interests

    *

Encouraging engagement with Maths and English

    *

Providing mentoring and positive role modelling

    Hours: 10 hours per week

    Mentors with relevant experience

A strong background or interest in IT and computing is highly desirable, as this is likely to be the key factor in engaging the student and building a successful working relationship.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to a young person's future by helping them build confidence, recognise their strengths, and prepare for the next stage of their education.
