How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    HR Consultant - Fixed Term Contract- 6 months
    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR professional to work alongside Thames Water managers providing the link between the operational business and our People team.

    You will deliver a professional, high quality and customer-focused HR service to our managers and leadership teams.

    You will be responsible for overseeing, facilitating, and carrying out generalist HR processes that in turn support Thames Water in the delivery of business objectives while enabling our employees to flourish.

    You will have the opportunity to build and manage internal relationships with key stakeholders to enhance and continually improve the quality of our HR service.

    What you’ll be doing as a HR Consultant

    Support people managers with the employee lifecycle and implementation and delivery of our people strategy.
    Partnering effectively to deliver a high-quality HR service to our people.
    Provide expert advice and guidance to our people managers and leaders with recommendations to assist and influence decision-making.
    Analyse and interpret HR people data to measure and manage performance and communicate the results and findings to our leaders across the business.
    Making recommendations & advice following on from data analysis.
    Work with people managers and our Employee Relations team offering advice and support on cases and potential risks.
    Working closely with the HR teams across the business to support the delivery of business needs, ensuring strategies and planned benefits are understood and influencing HR thinking and solutions.Base Location:  This is a hybrid role with a base location of Clearwater Court, Reading, RG1 8DB but will involve some travel to operational sites as required.
    Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, 36 Hours per week.

    What you should bring to the role

    Experience across a broad spectrum of HR disciplines with an understanding of broad legal implications.
    Ability to lead and make strong and influential relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
    Experience of HR change projects.
    Ability to analyse HR and business metrics and develop solutions.
    Skilled at making influential decisions in a business context, shaping and influencing others.
    Be comfortable challenging current practices and making recommendations for continuous improvement using successful change management.
    A solid understanding of employee engagement and how to coach leaders to understand and create value from them.
    Experienced in the implementation of people initiatives and able to develop metrics to measure impact.
    Associate Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) or equivalent with Membership or equivalent is desirable.What’s in it for you?
