How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join a major 76-week new build prison project in Leicester. This is a key role responsible for managing the delivery of all mechanical packages across the project, ensuring works are completed safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

The successful candidate will have a strong mechanical background, ideally from a plumbing, heating, pipefitting, or mechanical building services discipline, with proven experience managing mechanical installations on large-scale construction projects.

    Key Responsibilities

Lead the delivery of all mechanical works from installation through to commissioning and handover.
Manage mechanical subcontractors, suppliers, and specialist installers on site.
Oversee plumbing, heating, pipework, plant room, and associated mechanical installations.
Monitor programme progress and ensure mechanical packages are delivered in line with project milestones.
Coordinate mechanical activities with the wider project team and other trades.
Manage project costs, variations, procurement, and resource requirements relating to mechanical works.
Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, quality standards, and contractual obligations.
Attend and chair progress meetings, providing regular updates to senior management and the client.
Review technical drawings, specifications, and installation methodologies.
Support commissioning, testing, snagging, and final handover activities.

    Requirements

Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager on major construction or M&E projects.
Strong mechanical background with experience managing plumbing, heating, pipefitting, or mechanical building services installations.
Mechanical qualifications preferred (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC/HND, or equivalent in Plumbing & Heating, Mechanical Engineering, or Building Services).
Experience delivering mechanical packages on large-scale projects such as custodial, healthcare, commercial, industrial, education, or public sector developments.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, installation sequencing, and commissioning processes.
Excellent leadership and subcontractor management skills.
Strong commercial awareness and project planning capabilities.
Good knowledge of health & safety legislation and industry best practices.
SMSTS and relevant site safety qualifications preferred.
Strong communication, reporting, and organisational skills.

    What's on Offer

Opportunity to work on a landmark new build prison development.
    Long-term 76-week project programme.
    Competitive salary and benefits package.
Career progression within a growing and established M&E contractor.
Exposure to a high-profile, technically challenging mechanical project
