How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Tradewind are recruiting! Are you a Learning Mentor looking for a rewarding opportunity supporting vulnerable young people across Rochdale?

    Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting Learning Mentors for a growing Alternative Provision service in Rochdale that works closely with both primary and secondary schools to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.

    These are full-time temporary positions starting in September 2026, with strong potential to become permanent.

    The Role

    This is a unique and rewarding Learning Mentor role that combines support within the Alternative Provision setting alongside outreach and reintegration work within mainstream schools across Rochdale.

    You will build positive relationships with pupils who may be disengaged from education, experiencing SEMH difficulties, or at risk of exclusion. Once pupils are ready for reintegration, you will continue supporting them within their mainstream school placement to help ensure a successful transition back into education.

    The role requires reliable, consistent and nurturing individuals who can provide stability, build trust, and positively influence outcomes for young people.

    Key Responsibilities:
    * Support pupils with SEMH, SEND and behavioural needs on a one-to-one and small group basis
    * Build strong, consistent relationships with pupils to support engagement and emotional wellbeing
    * Support reintegration back into mainstream primary and secondary schools
    * Travel between sites and schools across Rochdale where required
    * Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and resilience
    * Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, families and external agencies
    * Support personalised interventions and mentoring strategies
    * Help pupils develop confidence, attendance and readiness for learning
    * Maintain accurate records and contribute to support planning

    The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
    * A calm, patient and empathetic approach
    * Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
    * The ability to remain consistent, reliable and professional
    * Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or additional needs
    * Excellent communication and teamwork skills
    * A genuine passion for helping young people succeed

    The provision welcomes applications from candidates with backgrounds in:
    * Youth work
    * Sports coaching
    * Behaviour mentoring
    * Alternative Provision
    * SEND support
    * Residential care
    * Counselling or mental health support
    * Community or faith-based youth organisations

    To join us and be successful in this Learning Mentor role, you will need:
    * A minimum of 3 months' recent experience supporting children or young people in a school, youth work, care or community setting
    * Experience working with SEMH, SEND or vulnerable learners is desirable
    * A full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential
    * An Enhanced DBS Disclosure and professional references
    * A full CV with employment and education history included
    * The legal right to work in the UK

    By registering with Tradewind, you will benefit from:
    * Competitive pay rates
    * Access to over 2,500 free CPD courses through The National College
    * Full interview preparation and career support
    * A simple online portal for timesheets and availability
    * Dedicated education consultants with SEND and AP experience
    * Holiday pay options
    * Free networking and social events
