How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Location; Coventry

Are you an apprentice-trained Electrical Maintenance Engineer looking for a business that will genuinely invest in your development?

We are working with a leading UK food manufacturing business operating a highly automated production facility in Coventry. The site has undergone significant investment in both equipment and engineering capability, creating an environment where maintenance is valued and engineers are given the support, training and tools needed to succeed.

This is not a site where engineers spend every shift firefighting breakdowns. The engineering team operates within a structured maintenance framework, with a strong focus on preventative maintenance, root cause analysis and continuous improvement. You'll be joining a large team of experienced engineers, giving you the opportunity to learn from some highly skilled colleagues while developing your own technical capability.

Whether you're looking to improve your PLC fault-finding skills, gain more automation exposure or progress into a senior engineering position in the future, this business has clear development pathways and a proven track record of promoting from within.

If you're an electrically biased engineer who enjoys problem solving and wants to be part of a professional engineering team where training and progression are taken seriously, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.

    Responsibilities of a Maintenance Engineer:

Carry out planned preventative maintenance across high-speed automated production and packaging equipment

Respond to electrical and mechanical breakdowns, minimising downtime and supporting production targets

Diagnose faults across electrical control systems, motors, drives, sensors and automated machinery

Support root cause analysis activities to eliminate repeat failures

Work closely with production teams to improve equipment performance and reliability

Participate in continuous improvement and reliability projects across the site

Maintain accurate maintenance records through the CMMS system

Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with site standards

Skills & Qualifications of a Maintenance Engineer:

    Apprentice-trained engineer

NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent engineering qualification

Electrically biased with strong fault-finding ability

Experience within manufacturing, FMCG, logistics, automated warehousing or production environments

Exposure to PLC fault finding, SCADA systems or automation equipment would be advantageous

Positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop

    Strong communication and team-working skills

Engineers from outside of food manufacturing are encouraged to apply if they have experience maintaining automated production equipment.

Benefits of an Electrical Maintenance Engineer:

    Basic salary £57,294.07

    Quarterly performance bonus

4 on 4 off shift pattern (days and nights)

Up to 15% employer pension contribution

    Private healthcare and wellbeing support

Enhanced maternity, paternity and parental leave

    Structured training and development programmes

    Clear career progression pathways

    Staff discount shop

    Cycle to work scheme

    Subsidised canteen

Option to buy and sell annual leave

    Long service rewards

Most engineers are earning in excess of their basic salary through bonus and additional opportunities available on site.
