How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Fire Alarm Service & Maintenance Engineer
    Fire Alarms | Emergency Lighting | Service & Maintenance

    Location: Birmingham to Oxfordshire
    Salary / OTE: £28,000–35,000 - 40-45k OTE
    Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

    Valoris Group is recruiting on behalf of a national fire safety provider that is looking to strengthen its Fire Alarm Service and Maintenance team across the Birmingham to Oxfordshire region.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically biased engineer who wants to build a long-term career within fire safety, compliance, and life safety systems. The role would suit someone who already has experience with fire alarms and emergency lighting, or an electrician looking to move into a more specialised and stable area of the industry.

    This is not a basic entry-level position. The client is looking for someone technically capable, reliable, professional, and keen to develop into a specialist Fire Alarm Engineer.

    You will be joining an established national business delivering essential service, maintenance, testing, and compliance work across commercial sites. The role will involve travel, including working away Monday to Friday when required, with accommodation arranged and overnight allowances provided.

    The Role

    As a Fire Alarm Service & Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out planned maintenance, servicing, testing, and fault-finding across fire alarm systems and emergency lighting installations.

    You will work across a range of commercial environments, ensuring systems are safe, compliant, fully operational, and maintained in line with current regulations and client requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

    Service, maintain, and fault-find on commercial fire alarm systems

    Carry out emergency lighting testing and inspection

    Replace emergency lighting fittings where required

    Complete minor remedial works where appropriate

    Produce accurate service reports and compliance documentation

    Work in line with BS 5839 and relevant fire safety standards

    Ensure all work is completed safely, professionally, and to a high standard

    Attend commercial client sites across your allocated region and wider national contracts

    Work away from home during the week when required, with accommodation provided

    Candidate Profile

    The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical background and either existing experience within fire alarm systems or a genuine interest in developing within the fire safety sector.

    You will need to be reliable, well organised, comfortable working on client sites, and willing to travel as part of the role.

    You Will Need

    * Electrical background, either fully qualified or an apprentice nearing completion

    * Experience or exposure to fire alarm systems and emergency lighting preferred

    * Confidence carrying out emergency lighting testing

    * Ability to complete minor remedial works and fitting replacements

    * Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills

    * Strong attention to detail when completing service and compliance paperwork

    * Professional attitude and good communication skills

    * Willingness to travel and work away Monday to Friday when required

    * Full UK driving licence

    Package & Benefits

    * £35,000–£40,000 OTE

    * Full-time, permanent position

    * Overnight stay allowance

    * KPI-based performance bonuses

    * Accommodation provided when working away

    * Ongoing technical training and specialist fire safety development

    * Clear progression into Senior Fire Engineer or Compliance-focused roles

    * Long-term stability with a growing national fire safety provider

    * Opportunity to specialise in a high-demand compliance sector

    Why Apply?

    This is a strong opportunity for an electrician or fire systems engineer who wants to move into a secure, specialist, and compliance-led sector.

    Fire safety is a highly regulated area with consistent demand, long-term career prospects, and clear technical progression. For someone looking to specialise beyond general electrical work, this role offers the chance to develop valuable expertise in fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, and life safety compliance
