How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Commercial Manager
Leeds / Selby | Major Infrastructure Projects | Energy & Utilities Sector

Shape the Future of Critical UK Infrastructure

Are you an experienced Commercial Manager looking to play a key role on some of the UK's most significant infrastructure programmes?

We are partnering with a leading engineering and construction organisation that is delivering a substantial portfolio of major transmission and energy infrastructure projects across the UK. With a secured pipeline of work stretching for years ahead, this is an opportunity to join a business at the forefront of the energy transition and critical national infrastructure delivery.

Working on high-profile projects for major utility and infrastructure clients, you'll be instrumental in driving commercial success, protecting project performance, and leading commercial teams through complex, multi-disciplinary programmes.

If you're motivated by large-scale infrastructure, long-term project security, and the opportunity to influence commercial outcomes on landmark schemes, we'd like to hear from you.

    The Opportunity
As Commercial Manager, you will take ownership of the commercial performance of a major infrastructure project, working closely with senior project leadership to maximise value, manage risk, and ensure successful project delivery.
This is a strategic leadership role requiring strong contractual expertise, commercial acumen, and the ability to drive performance across both internal and external stakeholder groups.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Lead all commercial activities across the project lifecycle.
    • Manage monthly cost and value reconciliation processes.
    • Oversee contract administration, variations, compensation events, claims, and change management procedures.
    • Support project leadership in identifying, managing, and mitigating commercial risks.
    • Lead, mentor, and develop the project commercial team.
    • Drive procurement strategies to achieve the best commercial outcomes.
    • Manage project cash flow, WIP, forecasting, and financial performance.
    • Monitor and challenge project costs, ensuring accurate reporting and margin protection.
    • Work collaboratively with operational and planning teams to support programme delivery.
    • Identify opportunities for margin improvement and commercial optimisation.
    • Maintain robust project controls covering cost, value, production, and supply chain performance.

    About You
We're looking for a commercially driven professional who can confidently operate within a major infrastructure environment.
    You will ideally possess:

    • MRICS qualification or equivalent professional status.
    • Significant experience in a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveying capacity.
    • Strong background within civil engineering, utilities, energy, power, or major infrastructure projects.
    • Extensive knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial management best practice.
    • Experience managing commercial teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
    • Strong understanding of project controls, risk management, forecasting, and programme delivery.
    • Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.

    Why Apply?
    • Join a business with a strong and growing pipeline of nationally significant infrastructure projects.
    • Work on projects that directly support the UK's energy security and net-zero ambitions.
    • Genuine long-term career progression opportunities within a highly respected organisation.
    • Exposure to major utility and transmission programmes with industry-leading clients.
    • Collaborative and supportive culture focused on professional development and continuous improvement.

    Reward & Benefits
In return, you'll receive a highly competitive package including:

    • Competitive salary
    • Annual bonus scheme
    • Enhanced pension contribution
    • Life assurance
    • Private health and wellbeing benefits
    • Enhanced family-friendly policies
    • Holiday entitlement with additional purchase options
    • Professional development and training support
    • Retail discounts, gym membership savings, cycle-to-work scheme and additional lifestyle benefits

    Apply
If you're an experienced Commercial Manager seeking a high-profile opportunity within the UK's rapidly expanding infrastructure sector, apply today for a confidential discussion.
