How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    On behalf of our globally respected client who develop cutting-edge technologies that deliver clean, safe and competitive solutions to meet the planet's vital power needs we are looking for a Buyer for a 12 month contract based in Bristol.

    Please note in this role you would be working 3 days onsite in Bristol per week and 2 days working from home.

    Purpose of the Buyer role:

    Support the delivery of a complex programme by managing procurement activities across high-complexity electrical systems.
    Ensure robust supplier selection, contract management, and compliance with regulatory, security and export control requirements.
    Collaborate cross-functionally to enable New Product Introduction (NPI), from concept design through to sourcing and supplier engagement.

    What you'll do:

    Manage end-to-end procurement activities, including sourcing, supplier selection, and placement of purchase orders in line with programme requirements.
    Lead contract management activities, ensuring adherence to terms & conditions, governance, and defence-specific compliance standards.
    Conduct supplier due diligence, capability assessments, and supply chain mapping for new and existing suppliers.
    Work closely with engineering teams (design, manufacturing, and stakeholders).
    Support NPI activities by engaging with suppliers early in the design phase to ensure manufacturability and supply chain feasibility.
    Negotiate commercial terms and secure contracts aligned to programme objectives, cost targets, and risk mitigation strategies.
    Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, driving performance across quality, cost, and delivery.
    Ensure compliance with procurement policies, export control regulations, NDA requirements, and supply chain governance processes.
    Monitor supplier performance and manage any quality or delivery issues through effective resolution and escalation.
    Contribute to risk management activities, identifying and mitigating supply chain risks across the programme.

    The skills you'll need:

    Strong, proven experience in procurement or buying.
    Solid contract management experience, with the ability to interpret and manage complex terms & conditions.
    Degree qualified (preferred).
    Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
    Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and programme teams.
    Experience in supplier sourcing, assessment, and relationship management.
    Understanding of governance, compliance, and ideally export control requirements.
    Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP.
    A proactive, adaptable mindset with the ability to manage change and bring fresh ideas/innovation.
