How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Working closely with engineering, planning, production, and quality teams, you will help maintain a resilient and efficient supply chain while supporting cost, quality, and delivery objectives.

This position offers excellent exposure to supplier management, strategic sourcing, cost reduction initiatives, and global supply chain activities.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Source and procure electronic components, materials, and services to meet production requirements.
    • Manage the full purchasing process, including RFQs, supplier quotations, purchase orders, and delivery tracking.
    • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships.
    • Support supplier selection, onboarding, and performance monitoring.
    • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms with suppliers.
    • Work closely with planning and production teams to ensure material availability.
    • Monitor MRP signals and manage purchasing activity accordingly.
    • Resolve supply chain issues including shortages, delays, and quality concerns.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities through alternative sourcing and value engineering initiatives.
    • Support inventory management and stock optimisation activities.
    • Help identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including component obsolescence and supplier dependency.
    • Maintain accurate purchasing records within ERP/MRP systems.
    • Produce reports and KPI data relating to supplier performance, inventory, and cost savings.

    What We're Looking For

    • Previous purchasing or procurement experience within an electronics, engineering, or technical manufacturing environment.
    • Understanding of electronic components and manufacturing supply chains.
    • Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
    • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Excellent communication and supplier relationship management skills.
    • Commercial awareness and confidence negotiating with suppliers.
    • Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
    • Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

    Desirable Experience

    • Knowledge of PCB assembly, SMT manufacturing, or electronic component lifecycle management.
    • Exposure to global sourcing and international supply chains.
    • Experience supporting cost reduction initiatives.
    • Understanding of supplier performance management.
    • Knowledge of supply chain risk management, including obsolescence and dual sourcing strategies.
    • Working towards, or interested in studying, a CIPS qualification.
    • Experience working within a growing or scaling manufacturing business.

    What's on Offer?

    • Salary of £35,000 – £42,000
    • Opportunity to develop a long-term career within procurement and supply chain management
    • Exposure to global suppliers and advanced manufacturing technologies
    • Collaborative and supportive working environment
    • Training and development opportunities
    • The chance to make a real impact within a growing engineering business

If you're a motivated Buyer looking for your next challenge within a technology-focused manufacturing environment, we'd love to hear from you.
