How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are currently working in partnership with a specialist construction and property solutions contractor based in Potters Bar, who are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor on a permanent basis.


    The position is due to start on notice and offers a salary of £65,000 - £85,000 per annum, dependent on experience.


    The ideal candidate will hold a degree-level qualification in Quantity Surveying or have experience working on external façade, cladding and brickwork projects, and hold a full UK driving licence.


    Duties will include (but are not limited to):

    • Managing external façade, cladding and brickwork projects ranging from £50k to £50m

    • Preparing cost plans, valuations, variations and final accounts

    • Monitoring project budgets and ensuring commercial performance targets are achieved

    • Liaising with clients, subcontractors and project teams throughout the project lifecycle

    • Conducting site visits across London and surrounding areas

    • Supporting procurement activities and subcontractor management

    • Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities

    • Producing accurate commercial reports and forecasts


    Experience required:

    • Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction sector

    • Experience delivering external façade, cladding and/or brickwork projects

    • Experience managing projects of varying values from minor works through to large-scale schemes


    Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

    • Strong commercial and contractual awareness

    • Excellent cost management and reporting skills

    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

    • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

    • Knowledge of construction contracts and procurement processes
