How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    We are seeking a Contracts Officer to join our Commercial team. This role plays a critical part in strengthening commercial control across our overhaul and maintenance activities, ensuring work completed is accurately captured, authorised, invoiced and recovered in a timely manner.

    Acting as a key link between operations, commercial teams and customers, you will support revenue generation, improve cash flow and ensure contractual obligations are effectively managed. You will work closely with production, engineering, procurement and finance teams to ensure completed work is commercially recovered and that robust processes are maintained throughout the contract lifecycle.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded individual who enjoys building relationships, driving process improvements and ensuring strong commercial governance within a fast-paced engineering environment.



    Role responsibilities

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Revenue & Cash Flow Management – Raise quotations, secure customer purchase orders, ensur completed work is invoiced accurately and promptly, and support debtor management activities.

    • Work in Progress (WIP) Control – Review aged WIP reports, identify and resolve invoice blockers, and ensure all commercial documentation is complete, accurate and auditable.

    • Warranty & Revenue Recovery – Manage rejected warranty claims, re-price recoverable work, obtain customer approvals and maximise revenue recovery opportunities.

    • Contract Compliance & Risk Management – Monitor contractual obligations, track customer float levels and turnaround times, identify commercial risks and support robust governance processes.

    • Operational & Commercial Integration – Work closely with production, engineering and procurement teams to ensure chargeable work is captured and commercially recovered in line with contractual requirements.

    • Customer & Stakeholder Management – Liaise with customers regarding quotations, approvals, purchase orders, invoice queries and disputes while maintaining strong professional relationships.

    • Continuous Improvement – Identify opportunities to improve cash collection, billing accuracy, reporting and commercial processes, supporting the implementation of improvements across the business.



    Who we’re looking for

    • Experience within a commercial, contracts, finance, project support or administration role, preferably within engineering, manufacturing, rail or another operational environment.

    • A commercially aware individual with a strong understanding of the financial impact of business activities.

    • Someone with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities whilst maintaining accuracy.

    • A confident communicator who can build effective working relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.

    • An individual with strong organisational and problem-solving skills who takes ownership and accountability for outcomes.

    • Experience of invoicing, contract administration, revenue recovery, WIP management or customer account management would be advantageous.

    • HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a commercial, business or numerate discipline is desirable, although relevant experience will also be considered.

    • You will be proactive, resilient and customer-focused, with a commitment to delivering high-quality commercial support and driving continuous improvement.



    Welsh Language Skills

    The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.
