How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Role: Service Manager
    Location: UK Wide
    Salary: £60,000+

    About Our Client:

Our client is a leading provider of innovative water and wastewater treatment solutions, supporting both municipal and industrial customers across the UK and internationally.

Driven by a commitment to improving public health, protecting the environment, and supporting sustainable economic development, they deliver advanced technologies that help customers manage one of the world's most valuable resources - water.

Their solutions focus on the treatment, recovery, and reuse of water and wastewater, helping organisations reduce energy consumption, minimise chemical usage, optimise land requirements, and improve operational efficiency. Through a combination of engineering expertise, innovation, and a strong commitment to quality, they continue to play a key role in advancing sustainable water management practices globally.

    About the Role:

Our client is seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead the delivery of servicing, maintenance, and post-project support activities across their water treatment portfolio. This is a varied and hands-on role that combines client management, service delivery, technical support, planning, procurement, and team leadership.

You will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of service activities, from understanding client requirements and preparing quotations through to planning resources, coordinating site activities, managing budgets, and ensuring high-quality reporting and customer support. Working closely with engineers, contractors, and internal stakeholders, you will play a key role in maintaining operational performance and strengthening long-term client relationships.

    Key Responsibilities:

Develop a thorough understanding of client service, maintenance, and operational requirements.
Prepare service proposals, quotations, and cost estimates tailored to client needs.
Manage and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication, meetings, and ongoing support.
Lead and coordinate service engineers, contractors, and site resources to ensure the successful delivery of service and maintenance activities.
Plan and manage servicing works in line with agreed budgets, programmes, and performance targets.
Promote and ensure compliance with the company's Integrated Management System and health and safety procedures.
Investigate equipment failures and operational issues, identifying both immediate corrective actions and long-term solutions.
Manage procurement activities, including equipment, materials, and subcontracted services.
Review supplier quotations, assess technical compliance, and support purchasing decisions.
Ensure service reports are completed accurately and promptly, documenting completed works, recommendations, and asset condition assessments.
Oversee the procurement, assembly, and delivery of SMART Units in line with project requirements, budgets, and programmes.
Manage the manufacture, assembly, and maintenance of pilot plants supporting the company's strategic initiatives.
Support the management of spare parts, tools, and service equipment inventories.
Provide regular progress updates and performance reporting to the Operational Conformance Manager, highlighting programme status, budget performance, and risks.

    About You:

Experience managing service, maintenance, or project delivery activities within the water and wastewater sector.
Proven leadership experience managing engineers, contractors, or multidisciplinary teams.
Strong client-facing skills with the ability to build and maintain long-term customer relationships.
Experience preparing quotations, managing budgets, and overseeing service delivery programmes.
Good understanding of health and safety legislation and best practice within engineering or utility environments.
Strong organisational, planning, and resource management skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.
Engineering qualification, technical background, or relevant practical industry experience.
    Full UK driving licence.
Experience with water treatment equipment, servicing, commissioning, or operational support would be highly advantageous.
