How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Role: Operations Manager
    Location: UK Wide
    Salary: £90,000

    About Our Client:

Our client is a leading provider of innovative water and wastewater treatment solutions, supporting both municipal and industrial customers across the UK and internationally.

Driven by a commitment to improving public health, protecting the environment, and supporting sustainable economic development, they deliver advanced technologies that help customers manage one of the world's most valuable resources - water.

Their solutions focus on the treatment, recovery, and reuse of water and wastewater, helping organisations reduce energy consumption, minimise chemical usage, optimise land requirements, and improve operational efficiency. Through a combination of engineering expertise, innovation, and a strong commitment to quality, they continue to play a key role in advancing sustainable water management practices globally.

    About the Role:

Our client is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead the successful delivery of water and wastewater projects across their allocated regions. This is a senior leadership role responsible for client relationship management, operational performance, budget control, programme delivery, and team leadership.

Reporting to the Operations Director, you will oversee a team of Project Managers and support staff, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on budget, and in line with client expectations. You will champion a "Right First Time" culture across all aspects of project delivery, maintaining the highest standards of quality, compliance, and operational excellence.

    Key Responsibilities:

Act as the primary point of contact for clients within your allocated region, building and maintaining strong, long-term relationships.
Develop a detailed understanding of client requirements and project objectives to ensure successful delivery of works.
Lead, mentor, and support a team of Project Managers and associated delivery personnel.
Support the Operations Director with recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and development of operational staff.
Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with agreed scope, programme, budget, and quality requirements.
Monitor project performance through regular reviews of programme, cost, risk, and resource allocation.
Promote and ensure compliance with the company's Integrated Management System and operational procedures.
Collaborate with fellow Operations Managers and the Operational Conformance Manager to optimise resource utilisation and operational performance.
Manage supplier and subcontractor relationships, including performance evaluation and selection of new delivery partners.
Provide regular progress updates and operational reports to the Operations Director, highlighting project status, risks, and opportunities.
Drive a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence throughout the business.
Ensure efficient management of personal and team workloads to achieve business objectives and delivery targets.

    About You:

Demonstrable experience delivering complex projects within the UK water and wastewater sector.
Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary project delivery teams.
Strong client-facing skills with the ability to build and maintain trusted relationships.
Experience managing project budgets, commercial performance, and financial reporting.
Strong planning, programming, and project controls experience.
Engineering qualification, technical background, or significant practical site-based experience.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
Highly motivated, proactive, and capable of driving high-performance teams.
Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
High levels of integrity, professionalism, and ethical standards.
Experience working within regulated utility, infrastructure, or environmental sectors would be advantageous.
Chartered Engineer status would be beneficial but is not essential.
