How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Teaching Assistant - SEND School, St Helens (WA9)

    Flexible Start Options | Full-Time & Part-Time Roles

    Aspire People are partnering with a supportive SEND school in St Helens. We are looking for a caring and committed Teaching Assistant to join a friendly team and support children with a variety of special educational needs.

    This is an exciting opportunity to work in a structured, nurturing environment where every child's abilities and potential are celebrated. You will help pupils develop academically, socially, and emotionally, making a real and lasting impact on their education.

    Key Responsibilities
    Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND across Key Stages.
    Support children with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, learning difficulties, and communication needs.
    Collaborate with teachers and the SENDCo to deliver tailored learning plans and interventions.
    Use creative, sensory, and play-based strategies to engage pupils.
    Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and independence.
    Build strong relationships with pupils, families, and external professionals.

    Who We're Looking For
    Experience working with children in schools, SEND settings, or youth work.
    Patient, adaptable, compassionate, and passionate about supporting children's learning.
    Excellent communication skills and a collaborative team player.
    Committed to safeguarding and inclusion.
    Must provide professional references and either hold or be willing to apply for an Enhanced DBS check.
