How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Health & Safety Advisor – Multiple Locations

    Salary – £38,940 - £48,675 per annum
    Hours – 37.5 hours per week
    Location – Home Based (with travel around the Midlands area)

    As a Health & Safety Advisor at FCC Environment, you will provide expert advice, guidance and support to operational managers, supervisors and employees on all health, safety and welfare matters, ensuring the Company complies with all statutory obligations and maintains high standards of safety performance.

    This vacancy is for a full-time position, working five days per week.

    What will you be doing?

    - Advising managers and supervisors on health, safety and welfare matters to ensure legal compliance
    - Carrying out health and safety inspections, audits and workplace assessments, producing reports and recommendations
    - Supporting accident, incident and near-miss investigations and ensuring actions are implemented
    - Monitoring compliance with legislation and keeping up to date with regulatory changes
    - Providing guidance on risk assessments, control measures and PPE standards
    - Delivering health and safety training and coaching to operational teams
    - Promoting a positive safety culture and continuous improvement across sites
    - Supporting the development and implementation of Health & Safety plans and initiatives
    - Liaising with external bodies such as the Health & Safety Executive and other regulatory authorities
    - Monitoring performance against health and safety targets and supporting improvement plans

    What are we looking for?

    - Experience in a similar Health & Safety role
    - NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health or equivalent
    - Membership of IOSH (or working towards)
    - Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and best practice
    - Experience in waste, recycling, quarrying or similar industries (desirable)
    - Excellent communication and influencing skills
    - The ability to identify issues and implement practical solutions
    - Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload
    - Full UK driving licence
