Supply Desk is working in partnership with a supportive and well-resourced SEN school in the HP14 area to recruit a compassionate and dedicated PMLD Teaching Assistant for an ASAP or September start.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), helping them access education through personalised care, sensory engagement, and structured learning support.
The Role
As a PMLD Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with complex needs, including physical disabilities, medical needs, and communication difficulties, within a specialist school environment.
Key Responsibilities
Providing personal care and support, including feeding, toileting, and mobility assistance
Supporting pupils with PMLD, complex medical needs, and physical disabilities
Assisting with sensory-based learning activities and engagement strategies
Working closely with teachers to support individualised learning plans and EHCPs
Using communication strategies such as Makaton, PECS, or visual aids
Monitoring pupil wellbeing and responding to medical or behavioural needs
Supporting students both in and out of the classroom, including therapy sessions
Promoting a safe, calm, and nurturing learning environment
Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and support staff
Upholding safeguarding, health & safety, and dignity of care at all times
Requirements
Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Healthcare Assistant, or Support Worker
Experience supporting individuals with PMLD or complex SEN (highly desirable)
A patient, resilient, and caring approach
Confidence supporting personal care needs
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Understanding of safeguarding and SEN practices
Relevant training (e.g. Moving & Handling, Team Teach, First Aid) is advantageous
Availability to start ASAP or September
Ability to commute to HP14, Buckinghamshire
