How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Summary:

    Support the Senior Project Manager in the planning, coordination, and delivery of structures work packages across a major rail project in the West Midlands. This includes overseeing all stages of project delivery, from early scenario planning and design assurance through to procurement, construction, and handover.

    Working closely with key stakeholders, you will help ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with programme objectives, quality standards, and sustainability commitments. You will also support resource planning, contractor performance, and the effective management of project risks and opportunities.

    The successful candidate will have significant experience delivering works within live rail environments and a strong understanding of possession planning and implementation, whether on Network Rail, London Underground, or Crossrail projects.

    Key Responsibilities

    Support the Senior Project Manager in the delivery of major structures and substructure packages, ensuring works are completed safely, on programme, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
    Monitor project performance, providing regular updates on progress, costs, forecasts, risks, and key issues to senior stakeholders.
    Coordinate activities across construction, design, procurement, and commercial teams to ensure work packages are planned and delivered in line with programme requirements.
    Build and lead a high-performing project team, setting clear objectives, supporting development, and driving accountability.
    Develop strong working relationships with, contractors, designers, and supply chain partners to ensure effective collaboration and communication.
    Manage client instructions, contractual communications, and project interfaces, ensuring actions are understood and delivered across the project team.
    Champion a positive safety culture and ensure all works are delivered in accordance with standards and industry best practice.
    Drive quality throughout delivery, promoting a right-first-time approach and implementing lessons learned to support continuous improvement.
    Attend and lead project meetings with key stakeholders, deputising for the Senior Project Manager when required.What We're Looking For

    Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (HNC/HND considered with significant relevant experience).
    Chartered Engineer status (or working towards) through an appropriate professional institution.
    Proven experience delivering major infrastructure or transportation projects involving complex reinforced concrete structures, stations, or transport interchanges.
    Strong understanding of NEC contracts and commercial project delivery.
    Demonstrable experience managing multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholder interfaces on large-scale construction programmes.
    Experience working with major infrastructure clients such as HS2, Network Rail, London Underground, or similar organisations.
    Strong project controls, cost management, and programme management experience.
    Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
    Proficient in BIM, AutoCAD, and collaborative project management platforms.
