How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Site Engineer – Civil Engineering / Utilities

    Location: Thames Valley / South East (Projects across Reading, Bracknell, Chertsey, Ashford Common, Hampton Court & Basingstoke)

    Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 + package

    We are working with a leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor delivering major utility and water infrastructure projects across the South East. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Site Engineer to support the successful delivery of a range of civil engineering and utility schemes.

    The initial project is expected to be based in Basingstoke, with future opportunities across the wider Thames Valley region.

    The Role

    This is a hands-on engineering role supporting the delivery of utility and infrastructure projects from site set-up through to completion.

    Projects typically include:

    Utility and water infrastructure works

    Pipe laying and pipeline installations

    Reinforced concrete structures

    Civil engineering works

    Tunnelling and trenchless activities

    Associated infrastructure and drainage works

    Key Responsibilities

    Carry out setting out duties independently across multiple work fronts.

    Ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings and specifications.

    Produce and review site records and engineering documentation.

    Assist with quality assurance and compliance requirements.

    Support the preparation and implementation of RAMS.

    Complete site surveys and maintain accurate as-built records.

    Work closely with Site Agents, Project Managers and subcontractors.

    Ensure health, safety and environmental standards are maintained at all times.

    Monitor progress and identify potential engineering or construction issues.

    About You

    Previous experience working as a Site Engineer within civil engineering, utilities, water or infrastructure projects.

    Ability to carry out setting out independently is essential.

    Experience with pipelines, utilities, reinforced concrete structures or similar civil engineering works.

    Strong understanding of site engineering processes and quality control.

    Experience working with RAMS, method statements and risk assessments.

    Competent using surveying equipment and engineering software.

    CSCS card as a minimum.

    Full UK driving licence.
