How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Description

Please note, role can be remote or Hybrid, subject to Location.

You might think you know about NEC (previously Northgate Public Services) and our housing management platform, NEC Housing, but don’t be so sure!  Since 2018 we’ve invested over £61m in NEC Housing and we’re continuing to invest over £8.5m each year to make sure it’s the best in the sector.  As a result of its transformation it is in demand by housing providers as their housing management platform of choice.

Our Pre-Sales Consultants work with our fantastic existing and potential future clients within the social housing sector, to make sure they understand all aspects of the platform NEC provides and that they’re making the best use of it.  Pre-Sales Consultants at NEC work with many areas across our business to shape proposed solutions, respond to tenders, create relevant demonstrations and many other related activities.

As the role is so deeply embedded in the market, we’re looking to speak with people who have a deep passion for the social housing sector, its issues, and how you relate to our clients, their teams and services to their customers.  We are looking for someone with a sound background and experience with integrated housing management solutions and related service provision - so that you quickly understand what our clients need.

Our Pre-Sales Consultants are pivotal members of the NEC Housing team and cover many activities.  Here are a few of the key responsibilities:

Shape the best approach and proposed use of the NEC Housing platform, which will differ for each client, based on their business requirements and wider process / organisation architecture

Plan and manage demonstrations of the NEC Housing platform to prospects and current clients, who are looking to expand or change the way they work, ensuring you understand what they want to achieve and can illustrate this in the best possible way.

Liaise with the sales team to ensure good understanding of the client and provide pre and post demonstration engagement.

Assist with the production of bid responses, working with colleagues across the NEC business as required to ensure an accurate and professional response.

Keep abreast of changes in NEC Housing including new functionality, technical and pre-requisite considerations through research and self-sufficient training.

Configure and maintain a demonstration version of the NEC Housing platform, in line with the latest features and required business outcomes.

Research and understand the client organisation, the engaging audience to ensure sessions are relevant and appropriate.

Act as a subject matter expert for platform queries from our sales colleagues.

Liaise with Product Managers to provide feedback from clients or other relevant sources.

    Qualifications

With our extensive experience there’s a lot of areas where we can help you grow and develop into being the best presales consultant you can be, but there are a few things we need you to have experience with:

    ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

Experience of working in pre-sales, or proven presentation capability gained from the private sector working with public sector customers, or within a public sector organisation.

Good working knowledge of the social housing sector.

Experience of using and/or demonstrating an integrated housing management solution.

Full UK Driving Licence, as there will be a need for travel in the role

If you have the four above skills we definitely want to hear from you!  If you have any of the below that would be fantastic, but we’re more than happy to support and develop you in the following areas:

    DESIRABLE SKILLS:

Bring knowledge of emerging requirements within the housing/local government market

Understand the local government/social housing environment, competitive landscape and market drivers

Effectively interact with and gather information from high-level managers and senior officers

Awareness of client retention and importance of customer satisfaction to achieve this

Support other teams in the preparation of written proposals

Support the sales team pre and post client demonstration / engagement

Good understanding of the wider solutions associated with housing management, such as document management, asset management, mobile and scheduling.

    PERSONAL SKILLS:

    Work effectively on own initiative

Good time management with the ability to work to and meet tight deadlines

Strong command of the English language, both written and verbal

Team player with good communication skills

Excellent writing skills with the ability to explain technical concepts in layman’s terms

Good technical understanding of IT systems in general

Absorb new and complex information quickly

    Effective relationship builder

    Willingness to travel
