How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Trainee Electrical Building Services Design Engineer

    Location: Preston, Lancashire (Hybrid)
    Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 per annum

    About the Role

    We are seeking a motivated Trainee Electrical Building Services Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. This is a hybrid role based in Preston, offering hands-on experience in building services design across a variety of sectors. You will work closely with senior engineers on projects from concept to completion, assisting in technical design, producing detailed reports, and contributing to office-based and client-facing tasks.

    This role offers clear progression opportunities, with the potential to develop into an Intermediate Engineer, and eventually into Senior or Principal Engineer positions for the right candidate.

    Key Responsibilities

    Assist senior engineers in producing electrical building services designs.
    Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and detailed reports.
    Support the design and delivery of client projects from concept through to completion.
    Participate in project meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
    Carry out office-based engineering tasks and site support as required.
    Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with project standards.
    Continuously develop skills and knowledge under the guidance of senior staff.Requirements

    Electrical engineering design and maintenance skills.
    Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD).
    Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
    Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
    Willingness to travel to client sites across the UK.
    Eagerness to learn and a genuine interest in building services engineering.Desirable (but not essential):

    Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
    Experience in the Healthcare or Education sectors.
    Previous experience in a consultancy environment.
