Freelance 3D Technical Designer - Retail
Location: Hybrid Working
Contract: Freelance / Contract
Day Rate: £280-320/day (DOE)

A London based studio is seeking an experienced Freelance 3D Technical Designer to support the delivery of retail environments and brand experiences. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically minded designer with strong 3D modelling and production drawing capabilities to work on a range of retail-focused projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce accurate 3D models, technical drawings, and construction documentation for retail fixtures, displays, and environments.
- Translate creative concepts into technically feasible solutions suitable for manufacture and installation.
- Develop detailed production drawings, specifications, and material schedules.
- Collaborate with design, project management, and production teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Review and resolve technical design challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support prototype development and manufacturing processes where required.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Technical Designer within the retail, shopfitting or experiential sector
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks.
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
- Excellent understanding of materials, manufacturing methods, and production processes.
- Ability to create detailed technical documentation and production-ready drawings.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience using Vectorworks would be advantageous.
- Previous experience working on retail interiors, visual merchandising, exhibitions, or branded environments.
- Knowledge of fabrication, joinery, metalwork, or display manufacturing processes.
