How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Yard and Warehouse Operative

    Location: Cambridge
    Job Type: Full-time
    Salary: £26,000 - £31,000REED Business Support are delighted to represent our client, who are seeking a dedicated Yard and Warehouse Operative to join their team. This role involves managing both incoming and outgoing goods, ensuring all processes are completed safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate will be physically fit and capable of working in various weather conditions, with a strong focus on safety and customer service.

    Day-to-day of the role:

    Goods In:

    Unload deliveries, ensuring all items are received in good condition and in correct quantities.
    Report any discrepancies to the Yard Manager or Branch Manager, including taking photos of damaged goods.
    Handle delivery notes and paperwork correctly, noting any issues as per company instructions.
    Follow company's risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work during unloading.Goods Out:

    Load vehicles as per instructions, ensuring all items are correct and paperwork is complete.
    Ensure that all loaded vehicles are roadworthy and safe for public highway travel.
    Pick orders for dispatch, ensuring accuracy and quality of products.
    Securely pack and band pallets for transport, ensuring they are safe for travel.Housekeeping:

    Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization as set by the Yard Manager and Branch Manager.
    Store all stock safely and securely.
    Report any property damage immediately.Health and Safety:

    Uphold the Health and Safety standards of the yard and warehouses.
    Report any accidents or near misses to the Yard Manager.
    Wear appropriate PPE at all times and maintain responsibility for its upkeep.Required Skills & Qualifications:

    Physical fitness for manual handling tasks.
    Experience or ability to drive a forklift; training will be provided.
    Must possess a full and clean driving licence.
    Experience working in a yard or warehouse environment is preferred.
    Strong customer service skills and a team-oriented attitude.
