How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking to progress your career, or a qualified HLTA seeking a new opportunity within a supportive school environment? We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming school where you can make a meaningful impact on pupils' learning and development.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning across the school, working closely with teachers to deliver high-quality education while helping pupils reach their full potential. As an HLTA, you will have the opportunity to lead learning activities, provide targeted intervention support and occasionally cover classes in the absence of the class teacher.

The successful candidate will be passionate about education, confident working independently and committed to helping create a positive and engaging learning environment where every child can thrive.

Whether you are an experienced HLTA or an accomplished Teaching Assistant ready for greater responsibility, this role offers excellent opportunities for professional development and career progression.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Support teaching and learning across the school in line with the National Curriculum.

    * Deliver planned lessons and learning activities to whole classes, small groups and individual pupils.

    * Provide classroom cover during teacher absence where required.

    * Deliver targeted interventions to support pupil progress and attainment.

    * Work closely with teaching staff to support lesson planning and resource preparation.

    * Monitor, assess and record pupil progress.

    * Support pupils with additional learning needs, including SEND where appropriate.

    * Promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.

    * Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers and colleagues.

    * Contribute to the wider life of the school community.

    Requirements

    * HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.

    * Previous experience working within a primary, secondary or specialist school setting.

    * Strong understanding of teaching and learning strategies.

    * Confidence delivering lessons and managing classroom behaviour.

    * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    * Ability to work independently and use initiative.

    * Strong organisational and time-management skills.

    * Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

    * Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
