How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Hexwired has partnered with a UK-based engineering consultancy specialising in advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and aerodynamic development, applying high-performance simulation techniques originally developed in motorsport to sustainability, energy efficiency, and built environment applications.

We are seeking a CFD Engineer / Aerodynamicist to join a highly skilled engineering team delivering complex fluid dynamics and aerodynamic development projects. The role involves both independent project ownership and collaborative work across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

You will contribute to aerodynamic development programmes, support CFD methodology improvement, and help deliver innovative engineering solutions applied to real-world systems and efficiency-driven design challenges.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Deliver CFD and aerodynamic development projects with support from senior engineers or independently where appropriate

    * Define project scope, technical approach, and deliverables, producing high-quality engineering reports and recommendations

    * Support or lead aerodynamic strategy on assigned projects

    * Present CFD results, analysis, and engineering conclusions to internal teams and external clients

    * Contribute to the development and improvement of CFD tools, workflows, and best practices

    * Work with clients to analyse aerodynamic systems and propose efficiency and performance improvements

    * Support CAD-based design iteration for aerodynamic components and systems

    * Review and contribute to engineering design documentation and technical specifications

    Required Skills & Experience

    * Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with attention to detail

    * Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline (2:1 or above)

    * Strong understanding of aerodynamics and fluid mechanics

    * Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools (OpenFOAM preferred)

    * Good CAD capability (NX or Rhino3D desirable)

    * Strong data analysis skills (Excel and/or similar tools)

    * Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    Desirable Experience

    * Up to 3 years’ experience in CFD, aerodynamic engineering, or related PhD/research environment

    * Programming experience in Python, MATLAB, or similar tools

    * Experience working in aerospace, motorsport, automotive, or applied research environments

    * Familiarity with numerical methods or simulation-driven design workflows

    * Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary engineering teams

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy applying physics-based modelling and CFD to real-world aerodynamic design challenges, with a focus on performance, efficiency, and engineering innovation.
