Senior Process Engineer

Amentum are the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the Programme and Project Partners (PPP). This is a 20-year arrangement to deliver £7bn of major projects. The role of the PPP is to help to deliver a programme of nationally significant major infrastructure projects to the Sellafield site as quickly and safely as possible, creating new facilities that allow Sellafield to treat, manage and store waste safely for decades to come. Together, we are helping Sellafield to create a clean and safe environment for future generations.
The Project
The Special Nuclear Materials (SNM) Future State Programme is one of the most complex challenges facing the NDA in dealing with the UK’s nuclear legacy is managing the stockpile of separated civil plutonium.
The SNM Future State Programme will deliver capabilities to ensure the right material, is in the right package, in the right store to maintain the safe and secure storage of plutonium. To deliver the programme mission there are several tranches that must be delivered. The SNM Future Storage tranche will focus on providing additional modern standard, resilient storage capacity to store 100 Year Packages until the final disposition solution is implemented.
As a Senior Process Engineer, you will be responsible for taking a leading role in the process design development for our projects. You will work within a multi-discipline team to deliver the process design which typically includes key process engineering activities, process safety assessments, and participation in HAZOPs and design reviews.
As a Senior Process Engineer your responsibilities will include;
* Provide functional input to own projects, including, where relevant, leading the input of other engineers to ensure engineering delivery meets scope, time, cost and quality.
* Ensure that own work and that of more junior engineers on a project complies with all necessary corporate, departmental and legislative requirements and procedures, to guarantee that the necessary consistency and quality of delivery is maintained.
* Carry out engineering calculations and check the work of more junior staff to deliver a quality functional input to projects.
* Proactively generate value adding options within projects to offer to clients.
* Plan and prioritise own work and that of more junior staff so that deadlines are met.
* Provide functional support and guidance to more junior staff to develop them as individuals and the capability of the team as a whole.
* Carry out commissioning activities at client site as required, to ensure successful engineering handover
As a Senior Process Engineer you will already have;
* Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
* Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
* Self-motivated with the ability to work collaboratively and independently
* Chartered Engineer status with a recognised professional body (e.g. IChemE) - preferred
* Experience of working in highly regulated environments would be advantageous
