MERCHANDISING MANAGER
Role Purpose
Working in close partnership with the Product, Finance, and Commercial teams you’ll play a central role in shaping the merchandising strategy and managing the product lifecycle from planning and pricing through to stock control and delivery. This role bridges the gap between product, planning, and operations, helping drive smart, commercially sound decisions across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and develop the merchandising strategy with a focus on range architecture, pricing, customer segmentation, and category planning.
- Contribute to product sign-offs, range reviews, and work closely with the Product team to guide planning decisions.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders across Product, Sales, Finance, and Operations to ensure alignment on commercial priorities and stock availability.
- Lead inventory and stock management processes, including order planning, stock forecasting, and maintaining optimal stock levels.
- Manage order processes including placing and updating orders, liaising with suppliers, and chasing deliveries.
- Oversee logistics and shipping coordination including working with Far East teams, freight forwarders, and tracking shipments to ensure timely delivery.
- Ensure accurate documentation is completed for all procurement, shipping, and customs-related activity.
- Monitor weekly trading performance and recommend commercial actions such as rebuys, markdowns, or promotional activity.
- Analyse product performance across key metrics (e.g. Price point, supplier, margin, sales trends) to inform both tactical and strategic decisions.
- Design, improve, and maintain reporting processes and tools that drive data-led decisions.
- Report regularly on stock levels and sales performance to internal teams.
- Support and collaborate across teams as needed, contributing flexibly to broader business activity.
Person Specification
- Proven experience in a Merchandiser, Merchandise Planning, or similar commercially focused retail role.
- Strong background in inventory management and supply chain coordination.
- Commercially sharp with the ability to interpret data and influence product and stock decisions.
- Highly proficient in Excel or other data tools with the ability to build and present data clearly.
- Organised and proactive, able to juggle priorities and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced, growing environment.
- Confident working cross-functionally and influencing stakeholders at all levels with data-backed recommendations.
- A hands-on, collaborative mindset happy to step in and support wider team activity when needed.
