How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Health and Safety Assistant

    Nottingham

    £26,695 - £30,007 per annum

    We are seeking a proactive, organised and detail-focused Health and Safety Assistant to join our Health and Safety team.

    This is a key support role within a small, collaborative team, providing essential administrative and systems support to ensure the effective delivery of Health and Safety services across the organisation. You will act as the first point of contact for Health and Safety enquiries, maintain key systems, and support compliance with current legislation.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    * Maintain Health and Safety systems, ensuring records are accurate, up to date, and compliant

    * Support the development, review, and implementation of HandS policies and procedures

    * Manage and update the Health and Safety Hub on the intranet

    * Produce reports and analyse HandS data using IT systems (including Excel)

    * Act as the first point of contact for HandS queries via phone, email, and internal systems

    * Triage incidents and ensure enquiries are appropriately directed

    * Provide administrative support, including coordinating meetings and taking minutes

    * Support the team in delivering a high-quality, responsive, and compliant service

    About You

    You will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and confident working with systems and data. You’ll enjoy working as part of a team and take pride in delivering excellent customer service.

    Essential Requirements

    * A relevant Health and Safety qualification (Level 3 or equivalent, e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH, NVQ)

    * Knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation and best practice

    * Experience in a Health and Safety or similar environment

    * Strong administrative experience managing multiple tasks

    * Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with the ability to analyse and present data

    * Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

    * Strong communication and customer service skills

    * Good numeracy, IT, and written communication skills

    * Knowledge or experience within the social housing sector is desirable
