How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are seeking a Technical Cost Estimator to support sales and tender submissions through accurate cost analysis and pricing activities.


    Job Responsibilities (Sales)

    • Prepare detailed cost estimates for manufacturing jobs based on drawings, specifications, and customer requirements

    • Analyse materials, labour, overheads, tooling, and production processes to determine total cost

    • Review and interpret technical drawings, CAD models, and Bills of Materials (BOMs)

    • Liaise with engineering and production teams to assess manufacturability and identify cost-saving opportunities

    • Source and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotes

    • Develop and maintain pricing models and cost databases

    • Provide timely and accurate quotations to support sales and tender submissions

    • Identify risks and cost variables, including material fluctuations and production constraints

    • Participate in value engineering and continuous improvement initiatives

    • Support contract reviews and handover to operations/production teams

    • Monitor actual costs vs estimates and refine estimating methodologies accordingly


    Skills

    • Strong analytical and numerical skills

    • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

    • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications

    • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (e.g., compression and injection moulding, cutting and assembly)

    • Commercial awareness and understanding of cost drivers

    • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

    • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel

    • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (SAP)

    • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on efficiency and optimisation


    Desirable

    • Degree of HNC/HND in Engineering, Manufacturing or Business

    • Experience of working within an Aerospace / Defence environment

    • Knowledge of ISO9001, AS9100D or a similar QMS system
